Canon EOS 550D

The Canon EOS 550D has a 18MP CMOS sensor, which is ideal for cropping pictures without losing any of the detail or indeed taking large poster-size prints. It also functions brilliantly in low light.

The DIGIC 4 processor works with the CMOS sensor to bring about 14-bit image processing, which makes your pictures look smooth and natural. It also enables split-second start up and near-instant image review.

The high ISO for low light offers great picture quality when using a flash is unwanted – an ISO range of up to 6400 expandable to 12800.

Not only can you take amazing still shots with your Canon EOS 550D, but it has the ability to take full HD (1080p) videos or even shoot high speed 50/60fps videos at 720p for those fast, action packed moments you just have to capture.

With a 7.7cm (3.0”) 3:2 Clear View LCD screen which features 10, 40,000 dots for maximum clarity, you can perform detailed checks on images and videos. Or switch to Live View and use real-time visual feed to get those perfect shots at impossible angles.

Added capability is the 63-zone dual layer metering sensor which analyses information like Focus, Colour and Luminance to provide accurate and consistent metering.

The Quick Control screen is easily accessed with a dedicated button allowing you to quickly access your most used functions.

The 3.5mm stereo jack socket enables you to add an additional microphone.
With the Canon EOS 550D you can shoot VGA movies with a zoom of 7x. Movie crop allows you to shoot far in the distance, without having to change lens, by only using the centre of the sensor.

The Canon EOS 550D is also compatible with Canon’s full range of EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites.
