Game of Thrones is an American television series which is proving to be very popular with the second season currently being broadcast on South African Television. It is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels titled A Song of Ice and Fire. The first book in the series is titled A Game of Thrones which is followed by; A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons, The Winds of Winter and and Dream of Spring. The series is filmed in a variety of locations including Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia and Iceland with the cast being mainly British and Irish actors. The series has been nominated for several awards.
The TV series follows the multiple storylines of the book series. It is set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and chronicles the very violent struggles amongst the Kingdom’s noble families with each family wanting control of the Iron Throne.
